LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY CELLAR DOOR BOOKS FINDS NEW LOCATION AFTER  BEING FORCED TO RELOCATE

As we previously reported—days after the hate group “Proud Boys” harassed visitors attending Drag Queen Storytime at Cellar Door Books,  the property management abruptly canceled their lease.

“There is malice in this, a complete lack of even the slightest of courtesy,” book store owner Linda Sherman-Nurick told THE FIGHT.

“This kind of bullying comes out of hate, not simply business as usual… I believe it’s a reaction to much that we have done over the years but most of all, Drag Queen Story Time.”

The good news is that they have found a new space and should reopen by May 22.” Sherman-Nurick said. The store is located at 473 E. Alessandro Blvd., Suite C, in Riverside.

HILLCREST SIGN IS BACK WITH NEW LOOK AND LIGHTS

The landmark Hillcrest Sign on the corner of Fifth and University Avenue is back with a new look. The sign was in repairs for three weeks. According to the Hillcrest Business Association, the sign was first constructed in 1941 and first illuminated in 1984. The popular neighborhood marker has undergone gradual upgrades over the years, including the addition of neon lights, artwork atop the poles and environmentally friendly LED neon. The most recent upgrades include electrical and lighting components with new color-changing technology, allowing the community to change the colors of the letters to celebrate neighborhood events and seasons. Community members raised over $80,000 to restore the sign. It now features 16 million color hues.
