During his interview yesterday with Jake Tapper, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller argued that the U.S. must abandon “polite” diplomacy.
He suggested that the “iron laws” of history prove that strong nations must dominate their hemispheres (Venezuela) and secure strategic landmasses (Greenland) regardless of what NATO or international treaties say.
In response former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called out the current administration’s imperialist ambitions saying:
“Iron laws of the world?” Some of America’s most important national accomplishments are about leading humanity away from this kind of bullshit. If we let ideologues like Stephen Miller drag us back into a world where brute force is all that matters, all of us will be less safe.
