JUST B’s Bain came out as gay at the Los Angeles stop of their world tour, a significant moment in K-pop given the prevalent homophobia in the Korean entertainment industry and country’s lack of LGBTQ+ protections.
Addressing the crowd at Vermont Hollywood, the 24-year-old singer stated, “I’m f*cking proud to be a part of the LGBT community,” later sharing the news on Instagram.
Inspired by Lady Gaga, he dedicated his coming out to the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing, “You’re seen, you’re loved, and you are born this way,” before performing a remix of “Born This Way.”
His bandmates showed their support, and Bain expressed his happiness at being himself, encouraging the audience to “stay bold, stay fierce, and lastly, always, always be your true self.”
