An exhibit of life drawings by J.B. Harter and students of the LA LGBT Center’s Learning Curve program.

BY PAULO MURILLO

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Learning Curve Adult Education program has presented its popular life drawing course for more than a decade. Now it returns with a special edition student art exhibit presented in partnership with the John Burton Harter Charitable Trust.

This exhibit will be anchored by magnificent male nude drawings by philanthropist and gay artist John Burton Harter (1940-2002), on loan from the John Burton Harter Charitable Trust.

Also included will be student work inspired by poses featured
in Harter’s drawings, which will be replicated by our workshop’s live models.

The free opening reception will feature live nude models and a chance to try your own hand at life drawing.

Harter’s art paralleled his exploration, evolution and identity as a gay man. Most of these works convey a sense of camaraderie and affection and are filled with elements of fun and joy.

Opening Reception will be on Wednesday, July 16, from 7-9pm at Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza 1125 N. McCadden Place in Los Angeles. The exhibit runs through August 23.
