The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is increasing patrols and staffing around Jewish institutions and community gathering places as Hanukkah is underway, citing an abundance of caution following a deadly antisemitic attack in Sydney, Australia, over the weekend, reports WEHO TIMES.
In a statement, the department said its “hearts are with the victims and families affected by today’s terrorist attack in Sydney,” adding that acts of violence, including antisemitism and hate in all forms, have no place in society.
