BREAKING: Same-Sex Marriage Faces Supreme Court Challenge. WATCH!

The Supreme Court has been formally asked to overturn its landmark 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage across the nation.

The request comes in a petition from former Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, who is appealing a $360,000 jury verdict. Davis was ordered to pay emotional damages and attorneys’ fees to the couples she refused to issue marriage licenses to, based on her religious beliefs.

Her legal team not only argues that her First Amendment right to religious freedom protected her actions, but also directly challenges the Obergefell decision itself.

They claim the ruling was “egregiously wrong” and “must be corrected,” using language similar to the reasoning that led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade

This petition marks the first time since the historic ruling that the court has been asked to reconsider the fundamental right to marriage for all Americans, a right that has since enriched countless lives and families.
