LA LGBT Center Invites the Community to Celebrate the Grand Opening of Anita May Rosenstein Campus, April 7

Lily Tomlin, Kathy Griffin, Jenifer Lewis, Wilson Cruz, Trans Chorus of LA to Participate in All-Day Festivities Commemorating the Intergenerational New Campus

LOS ANGELES, March 8, 2019
—Two years after breaking ground in Hollywood—and just in time for its 50th anniversary—the Los Angeles LGBT Center celebrates the grand opening of the unprecedented Anita May Rosenstein Campus on Sunday, April 7, to which the public is invited. The all-day festivities include a ribbon cutting, entertainment, and guided tours of the two-acre complex, which will enable a dramatic expansion of intergenerational services, including 100 beds for homeless youth, a new Senior Community Center and Youth Academy, as well as expanded programming, administrative space, and more.

The Campus also serves as the Center’s flagship building, with its current headquarters (located at the four-story McDonald/Wright Building) being transformed entirely into a health and medical center.

Celebrities scheduled to appear or perform include Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie); Kathy Griffin (My Life on the D-List); Jenifer Lewis (Blackish); Wilson Cruz (Star Trek: Discovery); Alexandra Billings(Transparent); Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (UnREAL); Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow); Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race); Brian Justin Crum (America’s Got Talent); Lala Kent (Vanderpump Rules); Shira Lazar(What’s Trending); Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow); Trans Chorus of LADenise Frasier BandEzra Michel; and DJ Ryan Kenney. More celebrities and dignitaries to be announced!

Envisioned by the Center more than a decade ago, the sprawling campus was brought to fruition by more than 165 capital campaign donors, including the $8 million lead gift by Anita May Rosenstein and her family foundations. Architects on the project were executive architects KFA Architecture (2016 California Council AIA Firm Award winner) and design architects Leong Leong. Swinerton Builders was the contractor. Phase II of the Campus—scheduled to open in early 2020—will include 99 units of affordable housing for seniors and 25 supportive housing apartments for youth.

Due to the large attendance expected at the celebration, visitors and guests are highly encouraged to use public transportation or a rideshare service. There will be no parking provided on site. Street parking only, where available.
