Confronting the Closet’s Long Shadow: A Journey Through Memory, Desire, and Regret

BY VICTOR MELAMED

Breaking Glass Pictures will release the Hebrew-language LGBTQ drama A Man Walks Down the Street in select theaters on November 20, 2026, followed by a digital (iTunes, Amazon, Google, Fandango) and DVD release on December 8, 2026.

Directed by Yuval Hadadi (15 Years), the film won Best Narrative Feature at the 2025 Austin Film Festival and has screened internationally at festivals including OUTshine Miami, Reeling Chicago, FilmOut San Diego, and Cinema Diverse in Palm Springs.

The drama stars Angel Bonanni and Gili Blum as Raanan across two timelines, alongside Uri Banai and Yotam Rotshtain.

The story follows a 50-something man returning to Tel Aviv after 30 years abroad to sell his late mother’s apartment.

A brief affair with a younger man (Rotshtain) and an encounter with an older acquaintance force Raanan to confront his internalized homophobia, generational disconnects, and buried memories.

Drawing on his own early experiences with closeted self-hatred, Hadadi frames Tel Aviv as a central character, contrasting the warmer, discreet cruising-park era of the 1990s with the sleek, app-driven landscape of today.

Hadadi describes the narrative as a universal reflection on confronting regret and living authentically before time runs out.
