AMA REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR GENDER-AFFIRMING CARE

The American Medical Association (AMA) has officially clarified its position on gender-affirming care, stating that recent media reports suggesting a policy shift were based on a “misinterpretation.” Some media outlets had previously reported that the AMA was pulling back support for minor-focused care following a statement on limited surgical evidence. In its April 2026 rebuttal, the AMA reaffirmed that its core policy remains unchanged: it continues to support gender-affirming care as medically necessary and evidence-based.

WISCONSIN GOV VETOES SLATE OF ANTI-TRANS BILLS

On Transgender Day of Visibility, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers fulfilled his pledge to the LGBTQ+ community by vetoing five anti-trans bills passed by the Republican-led legislature. The defeated package included a ban on gender-affirming healthcare for minors, a bill allowing lawsuits against medical providers, two bans on transgender athletes in K-12 and collegiate sports, and a “forced outing” mandate regarding student pronouns. In his veto message, Evers denounced the legislation as an attempt to “codify discrimination,” reaffirming that Wisconsin remains a “firewall” against the national surge of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric.

NONPROFIT DEPLOYS “GOD MADE TRANS PEOPLE” BILLBOARDS AMID  LEGAL BATTLE

Nonprofit Mayday Health has launched a massive four-week billboard campaign across Kansas to support transgender residents facing an “unprecedented” legislative crackdown. The campaign, which features the message “God Made Trans People,” is expected to reach 1.2 million drivers on major thoroughfares. By reclaiming religious language, the New York-based organization aims to combat isolation and bridge the gap between faith and identity. The billboards direct individuals to MaydayHealth.org, where they can access resources on navigating state bans, finding out-of-state care, and understanding their legal rights amid Kansas’ current restrictive political climate.
