RICKY MARTIN ANNOUNCED AS HEADLINER FOR LA PRIDE

LA Pride has announced that multi-GRAMMY Award winner, Ricky Martin, will headline LA Pride in the Park 2024 on June 8.

Martin said, “I’m thrilled to be headlining LA Pride in the Park because it’s an incredible opportunity to celebrate love, diversity, and equality. LA Pride is a testament to the power of community, the power of visibility, and the power of standing up for our rights. Being part of this vibrant community fills me with pride and purpose.”

LA Pride in the Park will be Saturday, June 8, returning to LA State Historic Park. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

WEHO PRIDE PARADE FEATURES CYNDI LAUPER

WeHo Pride 2024 kicks-off on Harvey Milk Day, May 22, with a special event. WeHo Pride Weekend will take place from Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2 with OUTLOUD @ WeHo Pride, the WeHo Pride Street Fair, the Women’s Freedom Festival and Dyke March, WeHo Pride Parade, and much more!

The WeHo Pride Parade will feature “Lifetime Ally Icon” Cyndi Lauper. WeHo Pride Parade will Step Off at 12:30 p.m. along Santa Monica Boulevard on Sunday, June 2

This year’s WeHo Pride Arts Festival will take place from Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16 with various events and programming.

Throughout the 40 days from May 22 to June 30, there will be community group events at various locations.

KRISTINE W PERFORMS WITH GAY MEN’S CHORUS

The Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus presented the concert “Defying Gravity” on April 26-28, featuring special guest star, 17-time Number #1 Billboard dance chart artist, Kristine W. The program included traditional choral selections, spirituals and Broadway hits; with music by Josh Groban, Coldplay and P!NK, and selections from Wicked, Pippin, the Greatest Showman, and the Dreamworks animated hit, UP. Kristine W has been inspiring and uplifting audiences and supporting LGBTQ+ causes for over 30 years. PSGMC will join her for iconic #1 hits “I’ll Be Your Light” and “The Wonder of It All,” among others.

JOEL KIM BOOSTER HOSTS LA LGBT CENTER GALA

The Center Gala has announced that Joel Kim Booster, the Emmy and Independent Spirit Award-nominated writer and Fire Island star, will be this year’s host.

Joel is joined by Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo who will be honored with the Schrader Award and Mickalene Thomas, one of the most influential visual artists of our time, who is receiving the Vanguard Award. The Gala will also feature a dynamic musical performance by power pop trio MUNA, who will be honored with the Leslie Jordan Award for Excellence in the Arts.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 18th from 6pm-11pm at the Shrine Auditorium.

ABBEY WeHo SALE COMPLETE AT  $45M

The real estate sale and business acquisition of the world renown Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood and its sister nightclub The Chapel, sold for a total of $45 million to tech and hotel entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft. The Abbey enterprise founder David Cooley was asking for $50M. Jacki Ueng, Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Title Insurance at Ticor Title (FNF), disclosed that the sale finalized on April 22. The real estate sale of The Abbey was $27 million,  the business sale price was $18 million, bringing it to a total of $45M.
