Conrad Ricamora’s role in The Devil Wears Prada 2 was cut following test screenings where audiences questioned why Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), now a successful veteran journalist in her 40s, would still have a roommate.
To better reflect Andy’s personal evolution, the creative team removed Ricamora’s scenes to prioritize her established friendship with Lily (Tracie Thoms).
Ricamora – a two-time Grammy nominee celebrated for his portrayal of Oliver Hampton on How to Get Away with Murder and his breakout performance in the film Fire Island – responded to the news with professional grace.
Currently a powerhouse on Broadway following a Tony-nominated turn in Oh, Mary!, the actor stated that he understood the structural decision and exists to “serve the story,” emphasizing that his exclusion was a narrative necessity rather than a reflection on his performance.
