Dylan O’Brien (“Twinless”) and Hudson Williams (“Heated Rivalry”) to Star in “Apparatus”

Dylan O’Brien (Twinless) and Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry) are set to headline Apparatus, a darkly comedic thriller marking the feature directorial debut of Canadian filmmaker Sofia Banzhaf (I Am in the World as Free and Slender as a Deer on a Plain).

The project pairs two actors currently riding major waves of momentum.

Fresh off a $93 million domestic box office run in Sam Raimi’s Send Help, Dylan O’Brien continues his streak of prestige projects.

He recently earned a Spirit Award nomination for his dual roles in the dark comedy Twinless (which explores a complex, gay-coded grief) and will soon appear in Apple’s Being Heumann.

Hudson Williams became a household name following his breakout performance in the Crave/HBO cultural phenomenon Heated Rivalry, a celebrated gay hockey romance currently preparing for its second season.

While plot details for Apparatus remain under wraps, Banzhaf is expected to infuse the high-tension satire with the avant-garde sensibility that defined her acclaimed short films.

Production is slated to begin in Toronto on March 30, 2026, and is expected to wrap by May 12, 2026.

Given the six-week shoot and the indie nature of the project, industry insiders suggest a post-production turnaround aimed at the Fall 2026 festival circuit (such as TIFF or Venice).

A wide release would likely follow in late 2026 or early 2027, depending on which distributor picks up the film during its festival run.
