The City of West Hollywood will start-off June Pride Month with a jam-packed weekend of events and festivities:

WeHo Pride Weekend will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023, Saturday, June 3, 2023, and Sunday, June 4, 2023 in and around West Hollywood Park, located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

LA PRIDE PARADE JUNE 11, 2023

The official route of the CSW LA Pride Parade, taking place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, with a step-off at 11:00am.

The parade route will begin at Sunset Blvd and Highland Ave heading north, then east onto Hollywood Blvd, then south onto Cahuenga Blvd, ending at Sunset Blvd and Cahuenga Blvd.

This area’s route is approximately one mile long, with about 150 contingents consisting of revelers from SoCal’s top LGBTQ+ nonprofits, employee resource groups, city agencies, local, regional, and national businesses, clubs, bands, floats, and more than a few surprises.

Margaret Cho will be honored as the Icon Grand Marshal, the ACLU SoCal will be this year’s Community Grand Marshal, and a new category, Legacy Grand Marshal, will honor and celebrate the life of Leslie Jordan.

OLDEST LGBT RECOVERY IN NATION CELEBRATES 50 YEARS

The Van Ness Recovery House, the oldest recovery house serving the LGBTQ+ community in the Nation, celebrated 50 years last month., 2023. The Van Ness Recovery House has been serving the LGBTQ community since it first opened its doors on Van Ness Avenue, in 1973. LGBTQ alcoholics and addicts had access to help, substance abuse treatment, and were able to attend 12 step meetings during a time when same sex behavior was illegal in the U.S. (same sex behavior was not legalized until 1976).

WEHO RECOVERY CENTER MOURNS LOSS OF BOARD VP JOHN O’NEIL

The West Hollywood Recovery Center and Log Cabin (WHRC) Board of Directors are mourning the loss of Board President John O’Neil, who passed peacefully last month, following an aggressive cancer diagnosis. He was surrounded by family and close friends at Cedars Sinai. He was 61 years old. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Vice President of the West Hollywood Recovery Center board member, John O’Neil,” reads a statement. “If you knew John, you knew love. You knew what it felt like to be seen. You knew you were safe and accepted exactly as you were. You knew laughter, you knew joy and you knew that you were in the presence of someone special.”

NOMINATIONS FOR 2023 LGBT VETERANS WALL OF HONOR 

The 2023 Nomination for the The Benjamin F. Dillingham, III and Bridget Wilson LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor are open now until June 30, 2023 at the San Diego LGBT Community Center by visiting thecentersd.org. The Benjamin F. Dillingham, III and Bridget Wilson LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor recognizes LGBTQ veterans with ties to San Diego who served under anti-LGBTQ policies, preventing their ability to serve, and serve safety and openly, as well as those who have served after the ending of those policies.
