City of West Hollywood Celebrates Transgender Awareness Month Throughout November

The City of West Hollywood and its Transgender Advisory Board will celebrate Transgender Awareness Month in November with several events and the transgender flag will be flown over West Hollywood City Hall, located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard, throughout the month.

Transgender Awareness Month is recognized throughout the United States in November each year.

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, the City will launch its recognition of Transgender Awareness Month with a Kickoff Celebration and Awards Ceremony from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Flaming Saddles, located at 8811 Santa Monica Boulevard. Attendance is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Free parking will be available in the West Hollywood Park five-story public parking structure, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard, with validation at the event. Members of the West Hollywood City Council and Transgender Advisory Board will present awards that acknowledge community members and organizations for their work. 

On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 6 p.m., the City of West Hollywood’s Transgender Advisory Board will host its yearly televised meeting at the City’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room at the West Hollywood Library, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The event will be televised live on WeHoTV at www.weho.org/wehotv.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the City of West Hollywood and its Transgender Advisory Board will host a Transgender Day of Remembrance Ceremony. The event will take place at the Center for Early Education, located at 563 N. Alfred Street, and will include a march, speakers, and a reading of names to memorialize those who have been killed as a result of transphobia. Attendance is free and open to the public. Limited parking will be available on site at the Center for Early Education; validated overflow parking will be available at the West Hollywood Park five-story public parking structure, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. On Transgender Day of Remembrance, the flags at West Hollywood City Hall will be flown at half-staff.
