Orville Peck for “Playgirl.” Photo: Anna Garbowska
Country music star Orville Peck has made history as the first gay singer to cover Playgirl, stripping down to bare it all in a provocative feature.
While his trademark fringe cowboy mask stays firmly in place, the singer leaves little else to the imagination throughout the seductive photo spread, which marks his second major headline-grabbing nude shoot following his viral 2024 Paper magazine spread posing bareback on a horse.
The historic feature lands ahead of a major career wave for Peck, who is set to release his fourth studio album, Mule, on September 18, 2026, while also gearing up for his feature film debut playing Vega in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie.
Beyond the photos, Peck offers a candid interview reflecting on his career, his ongoing commitment to sobriety, and his desire to subvert hyper-masculine Western tropes. In the piece, he directly challenges traditional ideals of masculinity, noting that anything playing with classic tropes of male images tied to heterosexuality is inherently sexy, while pointing to the deep historical reality of gay cowboys and tongue-in-cheek style elements like chaps as the ultimate form of rebellion.
The full spread and exclusive interview are available now via Playgirl.
