ICONIC NIGHT CLUB MICKY’S LISTED FOR SALE

Micky’s West Hollywood, the iconic gay restaurant, bar and nightclub, located at 8855 Santa Monica Blvd, has officially been listed for sale. Commercial real estate agency The Brandon Michaels Group of Marcus & Millichap has been selected to exclusively market the 9,200 square foot, two-story space situated on 0.10 acres of land (4,406 SF), in the heart of West Hollywood’s LGBT Rainbow District. According to the listing, the seller will consider a sale-leaseback for 5 years from the close of escrow with one additional 5-year term (lease terms are potentially negotiable), for the asking price of $14,000,000. The seller will also consider a sale of the operating of the Micky’s business, which includes a type 47 and type 5B ABC license and a tangible and intangible asset for $4,000,000.

NEW LAWS STRENGTHENING PROTECTIONS FOR LGBTQ+ CALIFORNIANS

Multiple pieces of legislation signed by Gov. Newsom, strengthening protections and supports for LGBTQ+ Californians, have gone into effect this year.

The measures include AB 5, which sets implementation timelines for required LGBTQ+ cultural competency training by public school teachers and staff; SB 857, which will establish an advisory task force to identify LGBTQ+ pupil needs statewide and assist in implementing supportive initiatives; and AB 223, which requires any petition for a change of gender and sex identifier by a minor to be kept confidential by the court.

AUTHORITIES LAUNCH CRIMINAL PROBE INTO DISRUPTION OF DRAG QUEEN STORYTIME

West Hollywood Drag Laureate Pickle the Drag Queen announced that the City of San Fernando and the San Fernando Police Department are launching two criminal investigations into the events that occurred at the library on October 25th. The investigations are in response to a protest that disrupted a Drag Queen Storytime event at the San Fernando Library. Police Chief Fabian Valdez stated that while there was a police presence during the event, additional officers were called to protect participants and restore order due to provocations by some protesters. The City intends to hold attendees engaged in criminal conduct accountable and will pursue prosecution. The public is urged to provide information relevant to the investigations, and updates will be provided throughout the process. This incident marks the first time a protest successfully canceled Drag Queen Storytime in Los Angeles County.

EARLY BIRD TICKETS FOR LA PRIDE IN THE PARK 2024 

The Christopher Street West Association (CSW), known for producing the LA Pride Festival & Parade, is preparing for LA Pride 2024. Early Bird General Admission tickets for “LA Pride in the Park 2024” are available for $49.00, with a limit of four tickets per buyer. The theme, “Power in Pride,” emphasizes the LGBTQIA+ community’s unity in living authentically, especially amid anti-LGBTQ legislation. LA Pride encourages sponsorship inquiries and promises updates on the event details, including venue, talent lineup, headliner, vendors, and media credentials in the coming months. Vendor, exhibitor, and Parade applications will open in mid-March, and updates can be found on LA Pride’s social media channels.
