Scene from “The Divine Tragedy”
Written and directed by Sergio Tovar Velarde, the acclaimed Mexican LGBTQ+ comedy-drama The Divine Tragedy (La Divina Tragedia) is officially available starting Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Distributed by Cinephobia Releasing, the film follows Cristián (Artús Chávez), a former telenovela actor whose structured, comfortable life collapses after a 24-year relationship ends. Left with few options, he is forced to move in with his polar-opposite, hedonistic half-brother Roy.
Following a successful festival run that included winning the Audience Award for Best Feature at Wicked Queer: Boston’s LGBTQ+ Film Festival, the movie explores generational clashes, family chaos, and personal reinvention.
The movie can be watched via Video-on-Demand (VOD), specialized digital independent aggregators like Habanero PLAY, and physical DVD formats, with regional availability tracking updates also rolling out across platforms like JustWatch and MUBI.
