Actor Bradley Riches, widely recognized for his role as James McEwan in the Netflix global hit Heartstopper, married his partner Scott Johnson on Wednesday, April 8.

The nuptials were held at the historic Lillibrooke Manor in Maidenhead, surrounded by family, friends, and several fellow cast members.

Riches joined the Heartstopper ensemble in a background capacity during its debut, but his role was significantly expanded in the second season.

As James McEwan, a gentle and sincere student at Truham Grammar School, Riches became a central figure during the series’ iconic Paris trip.

His storyline was instrumental in the show’s groundbreaking exploration of asexuality, particularly through his character’s developing feelings and eventual prom-night confession to Isaac Henderson.

Beyond his on-screen work, Riches – who is neurodivergent – has been a vocal advocate for autism representation in the industry. His portrayal of James McEwan has been praised for its vulnerability and authenticity, traits that fans noted were mirrored in the heartfelt photos shared from the wedding.

The newlyweds are expected to take a brief hiatus for their honeymoon before Riches returns to his upcoming editorial and filming commitments for the remainder of 2026.
