Kiloran Bay
The 33rd Long Beach Q Film Festival—one of the nation’s longest-running LGBTQ+ film events—kicks off Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Honda Pacific Visions Theater.
Opening night features a 6:30 PM Gala Reception with drinks and free popcorn, followed by an 8:00 PM screening of Give Me the Ball, an intimate documentary on Long Beach icon Billie Jean King. The screening includes a special taped message from King and is preceded by the short Kiloran Bay, starring Alan Cumming and executive produced by Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
From Friday through Sunday, screenings transition to the Historic Art Theatre.

Feature Films: Award-winning titles including Cannes selection The Little Sister, Venice Best Picture winner On the Road, Frameline winner Test, Spain’s Maspalomas, Free Beer Tomorrow, Pan-Asian feature 10’s Across the Borders, and the queer horror film CAMP.

Closing Night: Emmy-winner Jeffrey Schwarz’s Mineshaft: The Cruising Murders, exploring true crime, filmmaking, and LGBTQ+ resistance.

Shorts Programs: Six curated blocks: Student Shorts, Queer and Trans Shorts, LatinX Shorts, Men in Briefs, Women in Shorts, and So Cal Local Shorts.
As Long Beach’s second-largest LGBTQ+ cultural event, the four-day festival includes filmmaker Q&As, live performances, parties, and Sunday Brunch.
