Dolly Parton Shares Candid Health Update After Canceling Vegas Shows

Country music icon Dolly Parton recently shared a reassuring health update while explaining the difficult decision to cancel her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

The 80-year-old legend, who has been navigating a year of significant personal milestones following the loss of her husband Carl Thomas Dean in 2025, revealed that she is currently managing issues related to her immune and digestive systems alongside recurring kidney stones.

While her recovery is progressing well, she noted that the side effects of her treatments have left her feeling somewhat dizzy or “swimmy-headed,” making it unsafe to perform in her trademark five-inch heels and elaborate, heavy costumes.

Using a characteristic touch of humor, she compared her current physical state to an antique car requiring a thorough engine rebuild, emphasizing that while her “transmission might be slipping,” her inner spark remains as bright as ever.

Despite the cancellation of the Vegas shows, Parton made it clear that she is far from retirement and continues to pour her energy into several major creative endeavors.

She is currently focused on developing her autobiographical Broadway production, DOLLY: A True Original Musical, which is slated to debut in New York toward the end of 2026.

Additionally, she is overseeing the final stages of her new museum and hotel project in Nashville, both of which are expected to open their doors later this year.

Between these large-scale projects and her ongoing commitment to record new content for Dollywood, Parton remains a prolific force in the industry, assuring her fans that she will be back in the spotlight just as soon as her “spark plugs” are fully tuned up.
