The much-anticipated, wonderfully queer season of the U.K.’s hit reality competition The Celebrity Traitors has reached its dramatic conclusion, with out gay actor Sebastian “Bash” Croft (Heartstopper) claiming ultimate victory for Team Faithful and Team Gay.
Unlike the American iteration of the series, The Celebrity Traitors UK features contestants playing for charity, with each participant naming an organization to receive their winnings. For Croft, that organization was Choose Love, which provides vital humanitarian aid to and advocates for refugees around the world, with a specific focus on LGBTQ+ refugees.
As an active and vocal member of the community, Croft has consistently used his platform to spotlight LGBTQ+ causes. Following his triumphant win, he shared his deeply personal connection to the charity:
“[The prize money is] going to Choose Love, which is an organization I used to volunteer at. The money will be going to refugees and displaced people but predominantly queer refugees and displaced people, and they are just the best organization.”
Croft’s victory has been widely celebrated by fans and charitable allies alike, standing as a historic and joyful high note for television’s ultimate game of trust and betrayal.
