More than a decade after changing the landscape of television representation, Disney has officially confirmed a Glee reboot for Disney+ and Hulu.
Long celebrated for bringing diverse, trailblazing LGBTQ+ narratives and characters—from Kurt Hummel and Santana Lopez to Blaine Anderson and Unique Adams—into millions of living rooms, the iconic musical series is poised to pass the torch to a new generation.
Here are the key details surrounding the major announcement:
-
The Creative Team: Original co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan—who famously wrote the first two seasons together—have reunited to write the new script. The series will be produced by 20th Television.
-
Cast and Plot: Disney has kept plot specifics, official loglines, and casting details under wraps. However, Ryan Murphy recently shared that he has been in touch with around ten original cast members who are enthusiastic about the concept, though it remains unconfirmed if any legacy stars will return on screen.
-
Where It Stands: Following months of speculation and Murphy teasing that a script was freshly completed, the project has officially received a series order from Disney’s streaming platforms.
An official release date has not yet been announced.
