SAN DIEGO
BATHHOUSE ORDINANCE REPEALED
The San Diego City Council unanimously repealed a decades-old, unenforced 1988 HIV/AIDS-era bathhouse regulation brought forward by Council President Joe LaCava. Officials and advocates criticized the law’s outdated framing, noting that education and judgment-free health services are more effective. San Diego joins San Francisco (which repealed its law in 2024) and Minneapolis (June 2026) in lifting similar legacy restrictions.
