A Virtual Lighting Ceremony
5:00 PM to Midnight
presented by Gay Desert Guide and Alaska Airlines

The best display of lights – in pink or rainbow – could win you air travel for two on Alaska Airlines and other great prizes.

Like never before, the Coachella Valley Unites in Support of the LGBTQ Community and to honor those impacted by COVID-19.

Valley residents are invited to celebrate Pride and Light Up the Night with pink or rainbow lights at home or their business on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7.

In Palm Springs, Pride Week usually involves large crowds at events across the city. This year, as Pride Week events adapt to a new world of COVID-19 restrictions, valley residents will come together to Light Up the Night in a new and special way as Palm Springs Pride’s inaugural lighting ceremony comes to living rooms, windows, front yards and porches across the valley.

Two (2) Winners will each receive two (2) round-trip coach class air travel certificates courtesy of Alaska Airlines.

Those participating will join thousands of other private home-based light ups across the valley to take part in a new virtual lighting ceremony. The community in invited to light up their homes, and businesses with pink or rainbow lights, to foster a spirit of community and solidarity and affirm their support for LGBTQ equality, equity and diversity.  Light Up the Night will also honor those impacted by COVID-19, to remember loved ones lost and impacted. Together we will create a glowing show of community support and hope for a future free of the darkness coronavirus brings to our lives.

Join us and celebrate Greater Palm Springs Pride 2020 at the PS Cultural Center Drive-In. The film is brought to you by our presenting sponsor NISSAN and is a partnership between Greater Palm Springs Pride and the Palm Springs Cultural Center.

Five years in the making, CURED illuminates a pivotal yet largely unknown chapter in the struggle for LGBTQ equality: the campaign that led the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to remove homosexuality from its manual of mental illnesses. Before this momentous 1973 decision, the medical establishment viewed every gay and lesbian person as diseased and in need of a cure. Business and government used the mental-illness classification to justify discrimination and bigotry. As long as lesbians and gay men were “sick,” progress toward equality was nearly impossible.
