Trump Admin Declines To Directly Condemn Brunei For “STONE GAYS TO DEATH” Law
On April 3, Brunei legalized the stoning to death of LGBT people.
The Daily Beast asked the State Department for their response to this horrific new law.
After nearly 24 hours of declining to clarify its position, the State Department finally sent The Daily Beast a statement saying the U.S. was “concerned” about the new law, minutes after they published a story noting Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the department’s silence.
However, when asked by The Daily Beast, Pompeo and the Department of State declined to directly condemn, or state an objection to, the stoning to death of LGBT people.
STATE SUED OVER “NO PROMO HOMO” SCHOOL SEX-ED CURRICULUM
Two gay-rights organizations are suing Arizona over its so-called “No Promo Homo” law, which bans public district and charter school HIV/AIDS instruction that “promotes a homosexual lifestyle,” reports AZ Central.
The National Center for Lesbian Rights and Lambda Legal filed the lawsuit last month in federal court on behalf of Equality Arizona, a nonprofit that advocates for LGBT residents. An unnamed student is also named as a plaintiff in the lawsuit.
Kathy Hoffman, the state superintendent of public instruction, and each member of the State Board of Education are named as defendants in the complaint.

OUTRAGE OVER CATHOLIC SCHOOL’S REFUSAL TO ACCEPT SAME-SEX COUPLE’S CHILD
A Catholic school is facing pressure to reverse its decision not to enroll a child with married same-sex parents, reports the New York Times.
More than 1,200 people have signed a petition presented to the institution, St. Ann Catholic School in Prairie Village, Kansas, urging administrators to allow the child into kindergarten at the school, which serves students through eighth grade.
The divisions were also highlighted in comments on the St. Ann Catholic Church’s Facebook page. “Wonder how many parishioners take birth control or eat meat on Fridays,” wrote one person. “Do ANY of the student’s parents ever get divorced? Have any parishioners cheated on spouses? Sooooo hypocritical. This is why the number of followers will continue to decrease.”
