Outfest Cinema Selects invites you to an exclusive, free sneak preview of the gripping new supernatural horror film Leviticus on Monday, June 15th at 7:00pm.
Hosted at the LA LGBT Center’s historic Renberg Theatre, this special screening will be immediately followed by an intimate, live Q&A session with writer and director Adrian Chiarella alongside lead actors Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen.
Fresh off its critically acclaimed world premiere in the Midnight section at the Sundance Film Festival – where IndieWire aptly described it as “Heated Rivalry meets It Follows” – Leviticus stands as a haunting, atmospheric new entry in the landscape of queer social horror.
Set against the backdrop of a repressed, deeply religious town in backcountry Australia, the film follows star-crossed teenagers Naim (played by Talk to Me breakout star Joe Bird) and Ryan (Stacy Clausen) as they begin to explore their feelings for one another.
When their community intervenes with a rigid “cleansing” ritual, a malevolent, shape-shifting entity is unleashed, hunting the town’s queer youth by taking the physical form of the very people they desire most. Co-starring Mia Wasikowska, Chiarella’s powerful feature directorial debut masterfully uses the horror genre as a force of resistance and a poignant reflection on adolescent love.
Admission to this exclusive preview event is entirely free to the public. Because seating at the Renberg Theatre is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, early arrival is highly encouraged to ensure your spot for the screening and the panel discussion.
