Inspired by the Egyptian Goddess of Sensuality, Ghettoff (pronounced “get off”) is a posh adult retail store specializing in sexual health and wellness products that promote body positivity and self-care. The luxurious atmosphere of the boutique is especially curated to reduce the intimidation and stigma often associated with visiting an adult store.
From lingerie to leather, glass to silicone, each item in the store is hand selected by the company’s founder—Nefertiti Mitchell—to ensure quality standards are met before and item is placed on a shelf. The company also offers a wide selection of eco-friendly and African American-made skincare and wellness products.
“I wanted to create a showroom boutique where everyone—regardless of age, sex, gender, sexual preference, or kink—could come in and feel comfortable to talk about their wants and desires without others eavesdropping or judging their pleasures.”
Within this oasis of high-end products, guests can request couples or solo-play consultation for personal growth or exploratory play.
The company relies on a network of experts across sexual health, herbal, and botanical medicine. It also hosts closed session workshops on fetish play.
The store is only open to visitors by appointment to guarantee privacy and a discreet shopping experience.
In an interview with THE FIGHT Mitchell says that the idea of the store came about because she “wanted to give people like me a place where they could experience a discreet and exclusive way of talking about intimacy and enhancing their current situation. I wanted to create a showroom boutique where everyone—regardless of age, sex, gender, sexual preference, or kink—could come in and feel comfortable to talk about their wants and desires without others eavesdropping or judging their pleasures.”
“My vision of the shop,” continues Mitchell, “was to create an atmosphere that I sought during my sexual journey and couldn’t find. I wanted to create a welcoming environment that is high-end, gender/queer friendly, and allows for intimate conversations about needs, desires, and products.”
