Eddie Redmayne, may not have won his second Oscar at the Academy Awards last night for his role in “The Danish Girl,” but he did win the hearts of homeless LGBT youth when he toured the Center’s Youth Center on Highland and joined about 70 youth experiencing homelessness for a large buffet breakfast, courtesy of Focus Features.
The youth had lots of questions for Redmayne, and he had lots of questions for Center CEO Lorri L. Jean as he learned about the Center’s services to help and empower youth to build successful,
independent lives for themselves. He was particularly shocked to learn that about 40% of the youth experiencing homelessness in L.A. are LGBT or questioning.
He was so impressed by the Center’s services—particularly the success of the GED and employment programs—that he offered to record a short video message to promote support for the Center. Check it out:
