Dungeons Not Dating: A New Quest for Connection in the LGBTQ+ Gaming Community

Finding a “Safe Table” is about to get much easier for Atlanta’s tabletop fans.

According to an interview with Georgia Voice, queer app developer Rachel Dove is preparing to relaunch Dungeons Not Dating—a first-of-its-kind platform designed to connect D&D players through shared values and creative interests rather than just proximity.

Initially launched for beta testing in January 2025 with 8,000 users, the app is slated for a full relaunch in Q2 2026.

Unlike traditional “Looking For Group” boards, Dungeons Not Dating uses a “swipe” mechanic familiar to users of apps like Tinder or Hinge. However, the focus is strictly on platonic gaming connections.

  • Values-Based Matching: Profiles include crucial markers like feminism, Black Lives Matter, and LGBTQ+ rights.

  • Relatability Over Tolerance: For folks who are people of color, neurodiverse, or queer… they want people who are going to respect them, not just tolerate them,” Dove told Georgia Voice.

  • Strict Safety Barriers: The app is for ages 12+; however, minors are strictly separated from adults, and users only see profiles within 10 years of their own age.

While the app facilitates nationwide connections for online play, Dove—who credits D&D with helping her overcome imposter syndrome as a queer woman—has her sights set on physical communities as well. She plans to roll out in-person options in major hubs, with Atlanta being a top priority for local gaming meetups.
