Actor and advocate Chaz Bono married his partner of nine years, Shara Blue Mathes, at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel earlier this month.
The wedding marked the culmination of a romance four decades in the making. The pair first met as teenagers at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in the 1980s, where they shared their first kiss before reconnecting as adults in 2017.
Bono’s mother, Cher, was in attendance, seated in the front row to support her son. The ceremony also celebrated the joining of their families, including Mathes’s 25-year-old son, Cooper.
The couple, who have navigated significant hurdles together—including Mathes’s 2021 battle with breast cancer – are reportedly heading to Hawaii for their honeymoon.
