• Warm Clothing, Business Attire, and Personal Hygiene Items Needed
• Donations will be accepted at West Hollywood City Hall beginning Wednesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 31
The City of West Hollywood will host its seventh annual clothing drive for the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Services program this January. The New Year is the perfect time to clean out your closet and lend a helping hand. Clothing and accessories that are in good condition, as well as personal hygiene items are in great need. All items collected will be distributed to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth in need.
Many young LGBT people at the Center do not have warm winter clothing, nor do they have professional clothing for job interviews or to sustain employment. The Center is in greatest need of jackets, coats and ponchos; hoodies; sweats; new packages of socks and underwear; travel-sized, new hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, feminine menstrual products, shaving items, etc.); as well as boxes of snack bars (granola). Dress pants, shirts, suits, belts, ties, and blazers are also appreciated. Clothing of all sizes is needed, from XS – 4XL.
The City of West Hollywood will be accepting items in collection bins at West Hollywood City Hall, located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard, from Wednesday, January 2, 2019 until Thursday, January 31, 2019. Gift cards, preferably in $5 denomination, can be left with staff members in the City’s Social Services Division on the 3rd floor of City Hall. Please write the dollar value on the gift card. Validated parking for West Hollywood City Hall is available in the automated parking garage behind City Hall off of N. Sweetzer Avenue and there is also a loading area available for quick drop-offs.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland responds to the essential needs of LGBT youth, thousands of whom find themselves without a home or support. The Youth Center is a safe, welcoming place that connects youth with essential services, educational, and employment opportunities. It also helps them prepare resumes and develop employment interviewing skills.
