The Los Angeles LGBT Center proudly announces its 18th annual Trans Pride L.A. festival—a two-day event celebrating the vibrancy and uniqueness of Los Angeles’ trans and genderqueer community.
This event, funded in part through the generosity of Amazon and the Amazon Original Series Transparent, will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 17-18, at the Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood. Admission to the two-day gathering is 100% free.
The fun begins on Friday, June 17, 7:30 p.m. in the Center’s Renberg Theatre with an evening with activist and subject of the recently released Free Cece Documentary, CeCe McDonald. Immediately following the BigQueerConvo, there will be a reception and gallery opening of the Trans Pride L.A. art exhibit titled “We Can Be Heroes.” The exhibit features a mural project celebrating pioneers of trans history created by young, up-and-coming trans artists from the Center’s LifeWorks Mentoring and homeless youth program; Kylie Wu, creator of the comic Trans Girl Next Door; and photographer Sage Gallon.
On Saturday, June 18 at noon the Trans Pride L.A. festival begins at The Village. The day of celebration that includes outreach from over 30 local and national organizations, arts and crafts vendors, music, food, beverages, dancing and many other surprises.
The Transgender Law Center will sponsor a Name and Gender Change Clinic, and they will also be hosting their first ever Trans Electronic Music Festival featuring DJ Tranity and a wealth of DJ talent from around the Southland.
