On March 4, 2026, the preeminent LGBTQ+ legal advocacy organization Lambda Legal will launch its inaugural “Stand-Up for Equality” event, a night designed to blend high-stakes activism with radical queer joy.
Taking the stage at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, the showcase aims to raise critical funds to protect LGBTQ+ civil rights and healthcare access for people living with HIV.
Headlining this landmark evening are three iconic voices in queer comedy:
-
Margaret Cho: The legendary comedian and activist known for her biting, fearless commentary on race, gender, and sexuality.
-
Tig Notaro: The Grammy and Emmy-nominated comedian celebrated for her deadpan storytelling and disarming vulnerability.
-
Matteo Lane: A fan-favorite stand-up comedian and storyteller known for his sharp crowd work and exploration of queer life.
Produced by Emmy-nominated producer Page Hurwitz, the event will also feature performances from Dina Martina, Roz Hernandez, Rachel Scanlon, Guy Branum, Solomon Georgio, and Dana Goldberg.
According to Lambda Legal CEO Kevin Jennings, the event is designed as a direct response to a political landscape that seeks to push LGBTQ+ people back into the closet. “Activism isn’t a sidebar for our community; it’s part of our survival,” Jennings stated. “We must all rise to meet this moment, and I am thrilled these comedians are going to help us… gather together and laugh.”
