We have some major news: production on the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel has officially begun!
Yesterday, Prime Video confirmed that cameras are finally rolling on the film, which is officially titled Red, White & Royal Wedding.
On January 18, 2026, stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez broke the internet with a surprise video from the set. Looking very much “back in character,” they announced that production is underway in London.
Despite the title, Alex and Henry might not be the ones walking down the aisle just yet. In the announcement video, the actors clarified a major plot point:
They are actually filming for the wedding of Princess Beatrice (Henry’s sister, played by Ellie Bamber).
Taylor Zakhar Perez jokingly told fans, “We’re not getting married,” to which Galitzine added, “That’s a long ways off at this point.”
Jamie Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader, Only Murders in the Building) has taken over directing duties from Matthew López.
Matthew López is still involved as a writer, teaming up with original author Casey McQuiston and Gemma Burgess (My Lady Jane) to craft this new story, which does not have a direct book sequel to follow.
While Prime Video hasn’t set a firm date, industry experts suggest that with filming starting in January, a late 2026 release is possible, though a premiere in early 2027 is more realistic to allow for post-production.
