As of early January 2026, we have some updates on the upcoming film, which is titled Heartstopper Forever.

Instead of a fourth season, Netflix and creator Alice Oseman decided to conclude the series with a feature-length film to ensure they could give Nick and Charlie the “magical conclusion” they deserve.

While an exact day hasn’t been set, the film is officially slated for 2026.

Alice Oseman recently shared (in late December 2025) that editing is nearly complete. The team is currently working on animation (those famous “Heartstopper sparks”), the score, and VFX.

Production wrapped in late July 2025.Joe Locke famously posted a photo of his and Kit Connor’s chairs with the caption, “Bye Charlie, thank you.”

The Plot: “Can First Love Last Forever?”

The movie is based on the upcoming Volume 6 of the graphic novel (set to be released July 2026) and the novella Nick and Charlie.

The story picks up after the events of Season 3, with Nick preparing to head off to university while Charlie stays behind for his final year at Truham.

Alice Oseman hinted that the film will slightly diverge from the events of the graphic novel to better translate the emotional climax to the screen, promising “quite a few surprises” even for long-time readers.

Cast and Creative Team

Both Kit Connor and Joe Locke are returning, and for the first time, they are both serving as Executive Producers on the project.

In a major change for the finale, Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice, Colette) is directing, bringing a cinematic, high-polish feel to the conclusion.

Expect to see the full “Paris Squad,” including William Gao (Tao), Yasmin Finney (Elle), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), and Tobie Donovan (Isaac).
