Fans of the breakout gay sports drama Heated Rivalry may not have to wait until 2027 to see their favorite on-ice rivals back on screen.
In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development and Programming at Bell Media, revealed that the network is exploring the possibility of a standalone bonus episode for a 2026 release.
While Season 2 was officially greenlit following the massive success of the debut season, showrunner Jacob Tierney has indicated that the full next chapter—which will adapt Rachel Reid‘s sequel novel The Long Game—likely won’t be ready until early 2027.
To maintain the series’ “viral momentum,” Crave and Bell Media are looking at “what’s feasible” for a special bridge installment.
The rumored bonus content would focus on the complex “frenemies-to-lovers” relationship between Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie).
Fans are already speculating that the special could adapt the popular “epilogue prologue” from the original novel, which features an intimate dinner party at Shane’s home.
