Beyond Heartstopper: Kit Connor Faces Psychological Terror in “One of Us”

Kit Connor, “Heartstopper”

Kit Connor, the Emmy-winning star of Netflix’s Heartstopper, is set to trade schoolboy romance for psychological terror in the upcoming mystery-horror feature, One of Us.

The film marks a significant tonal shift for the 21-year-old actor, who has spent the last year transitioning into more mature and genre-bending roles.

Directed and written by Stefan van de Graaff in his feature debut, One of Us is described as an allegorical “whodunnit” with a dark, supernatural edge. The story follows a family gathering for a funeral at a remote location, only for the mourners to begin dying one by one.

Connor takes on the lead role of “Youngest,”a character forced to navigate a web of family secrets and paranoia as he realizes a stranger has infiltrated their ranks. The project, which was filmed on location in Northern Ireland, is reported to lean heavily into surrealism and high-tension gore, a far cry from the “golden retriever” energy of Connor’s breakout role as Nick Nelson.

Industry analysts see One of Us as a strategic move for Connor as he builds a post-YA career.

Following his successful Broadway debut in Romeo + Juliet and his voice-acting turn in the blockbuster The Wild Robot, this horror project—alongside the A24 war epic Warfare—solidifies his status as a versatile leading man.

While a specific 2026 premiere date has yet to be finalized, the film is currently in the final stages of post-production and is expected to hit the international film festival circuit in the coming months.
