The internet is collectively swooning over a heartwarming viral romance sparked on TikTok, as Ezra Sosa, the gay professional dancer on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, has agreed to go on a date with a fan who posted a video outlining why they should be together.
The romantic gesture came from Kyler Rogers, a fellow Utah native, whose TikTok video quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of likes. In the post, Rogers pitched his compatibility with Sosa using four key points, including an offer to trade votes for a date:
“This video is for Ezra Sosa and Ezra Sosa ONLY. Here are a few reasons why you should let me take you out on a date… 1. I also was raised Mormon, so we can bond over our shared trauma. 2. I’m located locally (Utah). 3. I’m no DWTS pro, but my friends can attest that these hips don’t lie. 4. I’ll trade you 10 votes next week, for 1 date.”
Sosa, 25, who made history in 2024 when he was officially promoted to the professional line-up, noticed the video amid his preparation for the Season 34 finale (where he and partner Jordan Chiles placed third).
He responded in the comments, confirming the date is on hold until the season wraps up:
“okay divas, honestly he’s adorable. i’m stuck in la for the show right now, but once everything settles and i’m in utah again, i’ll happily take him out. :)”
Sosa’s acceptance instantly went viral, racking up over 75,000 likes on the comment alone, turning the dancer’s season finale into a highly-anticipated personal homecoming.
Born in Provo, Utah, Sosa was raised in a deeply conservative environment and has been open about unpacking the inner homophobia he faced as a young queer man. He has been celebrated by organizations like GLAAD for joining DWTS and promoting queer visibility in mainstream television.
Prior to the TikTok exchange, the dancer had recently joked about getting “hundreds” of DMs from women but not a single offer from a man, making this viral success even sweeter for fans.
Sosa and Rogers are expected to have their date once the dancer returns to Utah following the completion of the Dancing with the Stars tour schedule.
