Palm Springs Mayer Ron deHarte On The Explosion at American Reproductive Centers

Friends and neighbors in Palm Springs,

My heart is heavy as we grapple with the horrific explosion that occurred [yesterday] outside the American Reproductive Centers.

This act of violence is unforgivable, and I want to be clear: it has no place in our community.

The safety and well-being of our residents is our absolute priority.

I’ve been in touch with Governor Newsom, who has been briefed, Congressman Ruiz, Senator Padilla and Assembly Member Wallis, and we are working closely with state and federal partners to bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice.

Under the leadership of Chief Andy Mills, our incredible Palm Springs Police Department is working hand-in-hand with the FBI, led by Assistant Director Davis, and other public safety agencies to thoroughly investigate this crime and ensure our city is secure.

Our firefighters were on the scene within a minute of the first call of the explosion. I’m grateful to Fire Chief Paul Alvarado and our firefighters and emergency medical services personnel for responding to this violent incident.

We mourn the loss of any life. One individual tragically died in this blast, and others were injured. Our thoughts are with the injured and we send healing energy for their quick and full recovery.

I thank our first responders for their swift and courageous action. Their professionalism in the face of such a devastating event is a testament to their dedication. If you are a resident near the affected area, please continue to follow law enforcement’s guidance and avoid the scene as they conduct their crucial work.

If you have any information or find potential evidence, please do not touch it and call the PSPD non-emergency line at (760) 323-8116.

We are a strong and resilient community, and we will stand together in the face of this tragedy. We will not let fear define us.

We will support one another and work towards healing.

Ron deHarte
