From Rom-Coms to Documentaries: Your Guide to Queer Content This Pride Month

Happy Pride Month!

June 2025 is shaping up to be a great month for LGBTQ+ film and TV content. Here’s a rundown of some notable releases and where to stream them:

New Releases & Premieres:

  • Olympo (Netflix): A new Spanish-language series that looks like a steamy drama, reportedly sharing DNA with the hit show Elite. (Available in June)
     
  • Late To The Party: Coming Out Later In Life (World of Wonder – available on their platform, likely also Max or other streamers): This documentary produced by the team behind RuPaul’s Drag Race spotlights individuals who came out later in life. (June 6)
  • Love Me (Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan): A post-apocalyptic romance starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, where a buoy and a satellite fall in love after humanity’s extinction. (June 16)
  • Noah’s Arc: The Movie (Paramount+): The long-awaited reunion of the Noah’s Arc crew. (June 20)
     
  • Sally(Release Date: June 17, likely VOD/streaming): A documentary exploring the identity and hidden romance of astronaut Sally Ride.
     
  • I Don’t Understand You (VOD): A horror-comedy starring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells as a gay couple on a babymoon in Italy that goes terribly wrong. (June 6)
     
  • Plainclothes (Premiered at Sundance, details on wider streaming TBD, but featured at NewFest): A steamy drama about cruising in the 1990s, starring Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey.
     
  • Jimpa (Premiered at Sundance, details on wider streaming TBD, but featured at NewFest): Stars Olivia Colman and John Lithgow, about a filmmaker who takes her trans nonbinary child to visit their gay grandfather.
     
  • Dreams in Nightmares (Featured at NewFest, streaming TBD): Follows three Black queer friends on a road trip to find their missing friend.
     
  • Heightened Scrutiny (Featured at NewFest, streaming TBD): A timely documentary following ACLU attorney Chase Strangio as he works to overturn Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Features Elliot Page and Laverne Cox.
     
  • I Kissed A Boy, Season 2 (Details on exact streaming platform TBD, but a British reality dating show for gay singles.) (June 17)

Returning Series with Queer Themes:

  • Ginny & Georgia, Season 3 (Netflix): The queer-inclusive dramedy returns with Ginny questioning everything as her mother faces trial. (June 5)
     
  • The Ultimatum: Queer Love, Season 2 (Netflix): Six couples of queer women and nonbinary individuals enter this reality series. (June 25)
     
  • And Just Like That…, Season 3 (Max): An advance screening of an episode was featured at NewFest, so expect the full season on Max.
