He’s at it again! Back in March, during a joint session of Congress, Trump valiantly attacked the Biden administration for supposedly spending a whopping $8 million to turn mice – gasp – transgender!
The only slight snag in this gripping narrative is that the study actually involved transgenic mice. Yes, those little critters with deliberately altered DNA for scientific research, not, as Trump’s vivid imagination suggests, embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
But wait, there’s more!
Not content with a mere gaffe, the White House, ever the champions of clarity, actually doubled down after CNN dared to fact-check their illustrious leader. They indignantly claimed the National Institutes of Health, under Biden, was “dole[ing] out millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded grants for institutions across the country to perform transgender experiments in mice.”
Because, clearly, medical research aimed at understanding how treatments affect humans is just a thinly veiled plot to… well, make mice transgender. CNN, those “Fake News losers,” had the audacity to point out that the studies were, in fact, about human health.
And because some errors are just too good not to repeat, Trump, at a farewell press conference for “Doge boss Elon Musk” (because, of course), circled back to his favorite topic.
He once again majestically declared that the Department of Government Efficiency had cancelled “$8 million for making mice transgender.” Yes, he actually said it again. Because why let a little thing like reality get in the way of a perfectly good talking point?
