Miranda Priestly is returning to the big screen! Disney has officially slated a May 1, 2026, theatrical release for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2006 hit comedy, The Devil Wears Prada.
While reports last year suggested the return of Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, no cast members have been officially confirmed. Stanley Tucci, who played Nigel in the original, recently commented to Variety that he’s aware of the project’s development and would be “so happy” if it happens, though he couldn’t provide further details.
The original film, based on Lauren Weisberger‘s 2003 novel, chronicled the nightmarish experience of Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a fresh-faced journalism graduate, as she navigates working as an assistant to the formidable Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the all-powerful editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine. Emily Blunt played Priestly’s harried first assistant, while Tucci’s character, Nigel, served as a supportive fashion editor.
The sequel is rumored to follow Priestly as she confronts the challenges of a declining traditional magazine industry and faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive whose advertising budget Priestly desperately needs.
The official release date for The Devil Wears Prada sequel was part of a larger reorganization of Disney’s upcoming theatrical release calendar, which also included delays for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
