Pedro Pascal’s genuine amazingness is confirmed by a most trustworthy source: his younger sister, Lux! On the red carpet at the Platino Awards in Madrid, the talented trans actress, known for her roles in several Chilean films, enthusiastically spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her celebrated older brother.

“I’m incredibly proud,” she shared, referring to the soaring fame and “internet daddy” status of The Last of Us and Fantastic Four star.

With a knowing smile, she added, “The thing is that I’ve always known that he is a superstar. It’s funny because people have been asking me, ‘Is he as kind as we think he is?’ And I’m like, ‘Yes!'”

However, it’s the 50-year-old actor’s vocal advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, especially during his career peak and a time of heightened attacks against transgender individuals, that has deeply inspired his sister.

“What makes him so fabulous is that [Pedro] wears all of his humanity on his sleeve, and he doesn’t hide who he is,” Lux explained, describing his openness as “refreshing” in a world where people “usually … move around the world hiding who we are.”

In fact, she stated that this is “the main lesson I’ve gotten from him.”

“There’s no reason for me to hide who I am, right? And I think people are seeing that,” she elaborated.

Since Lux publicly came out as a transgender woman in 2021, Pedro has been a steadfast supporter, notably sharing the Spanish magazine cover announcing her news on his Instagram. (“Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux,” he affectionately wrote, meaning “My sister, my heart, our Lux.”)

More recently, Pedro garnered attention for his activism by sporting a “Protect the Dolls” t-shirt at the London premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. This graphic tee was created by Conner Ives to benefit Trans Lifeline.

He also didn’t hold back in his criticism of J.K. Rowling‘s anti-trans rhetoric, labeling her “heinous LOSER behavior” after the author celebrated a U.K. Supreme Court decision against trans women’s rights. (“I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist,” Pedro passionately wrote in a separate Instagram post.)

Lux, who resides in the United States and graduated from Juilliard in 2023, told THR that she intends to “wait it out” amidst the current political unrest. “Maybe it’s not a good idea, but I’m focusing on my work,” she said, expressing her “gratefulness” and “extreme privilege,” while hoping that “continuing that route will help other people think with more ease.”

“It is a difficult time, and I wish it wasn’t as difficult,” she reflected. “I mean, we just went through a pandemic. Can we all just chill for a while and show empathy towards one another? I don’t know, maybe I’m too much of a romantic.”
