Born in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico (1986), Gamaliel Grootenboer’s early life, shaped by his Mexican researcher mother and Mexican-Dutch artist father amidst a multicultural environment, ignited his passion for art, stories, and innovation.
After living in Xalapa and Canada, he studied Communication in Guadalajara, where he began photography and filmmaking.
Following periods in Amsterdam and Paris, he settled in Mexico City, earning a master’s in Design and Visual Communication from UNAM. He contributed to Reforma newspaper, toured nationally with his art (2014-2016), exhibited in Colombia (2016), and presented photography exhibitions “Tales and Narcissism” (2019) and the augmented reality-integrated “Oniris” (2021).
