A message from Joe Hollendoner, the CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center:
Today, on national Trans Day of Visibility, we celebrate trans joy, resilience, and power. In an increasingly hostile political climate—where far-right actors are targeting and vilifying the TGNBI+ community—this is a day to uplift our trans siblings, not just in words, but through action.
Trans people deserve to be seen in their full humanity—not just in moments of struggle, but in moments of triumph, love, and community. They also deserve allyship and support from cis folks, especially those within the LGBTQ+ community as our movement has benefitted from their bravery and courage.
TGNBI+ people have always existed and will always exist, even in the face of relentless adversity. I want to assure you, the Center will always be a place where the trans community can find safety and support.
As part of this commitment, we invite you to join us on Saturday, April 5 at the Center’s Hollywood campus for Trans Liberation Now!, a rally demanding justice, dignity, and freedom for all trans people. We will gather in power to hear from trans activists, artists, and leaders who are on the frontlines of this fight. Laverne Cox will join us as a special guest speaker, lending her voice as a trailblazing actress, producer, and trans rights advocate.
“Trans liberation is not just about survival—it’s about joy, power, and the right to live freely and authentically,” said Laverne. “I am proud to stand alongside the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the incredible LA trans community in this fight for justice. At a time when our rights are under attack, we will not be silenced. We will rise together, raise our voices, and show the world that trans lives are powerful, valuable, and unstoppable.”
United we will fight back against anti-trans legislation and advocate for a world where trans people can live freely. We need our entire community standing in solidarity.
