TURBO: A New Monthly Queer Dance Party Launches at Dragonfly Hollywood Jan 31

An interview with HUMP EVENTS & OLLYWOOD the producers of “TURBO 🏍️ Let’s Ride!” a new monthly queer dance party launches at Dragonfly Hollywood Friday Jan 31!

• Hi guys. Please introduce yourselves to those who may not have been to one of your parties yet…

OLLYWOOD: I’m OLLYWOOD, I’ve been throwing parties in LA since moving here in 2017. Probably mostly known for Daddy Issues which I have thrown in 27 different cities around the world. I also produce EVITA with Andres Rigal which has had special guests Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Demi Lovato, Kesha, Kim Petras, Bebe Rexha and many, many others.

HUMP: We are Mas and Charlie, the duo behind Hump Events. We started with the Hump Middle Eastern Party in WeHo three years ago and have since launched events like Steam Towel Party, BarBareIans, and Let’s Go Bananas. While based in LA, our parties travel to cities like Vegas, SF, SD, and soon the East Coast.

Our latest is Turbo—a collab with OLLYWOOD that we’re super excited about.

• How did this partnership happen?

O: I’ve admired the Hump parties for a while as they are also very into creating original and distinctive brands for their events. With all my parties I try to create a strong brand identity. We also share a strong sense of humor and love to mix sexy with funny for our events.

H: We met through the events we each throw and bonded instantly over our shared values and creative thinking. Both of us are customer-focused, with a passion for creating original and unique concepts. Whether it’s the visuals, the experience, or the music, we prioritize making sure everyone feels welcomed and included. Coming from Middle Eastern backgrounds, we know how important it is for underrepresented communities to have safe spaces where they can come together, dance, and just enjoy themselves.

Turbo was born out of our combined passions— OLLYWOOD and Hump Events’—to bring something fresh and exciting to the Friday nightlife scene. It also gave us an opportunity to collaborate with Impulse, a nonprofit organization that promotes a healthier and safer queer community. Through partnerships like these, we aim to use our parties as platforms for spreading awareness and creating meaningful connections.

• What makes a great party ?

O: I love the melting pot. I love to see what different energies, vibes and looks people from different backgrounds and parts of town can bring. A bad party is usually a party with too much of one thing. It’s like cooking, you need great music, atmosphere and fun people. But the art of nightlife is in those ingredients and how you mix and prepare them.

H: A great party is all about the experience—the perfect mix of music, entertainment, and a welcoming, safe vibe. We’re intentional about everything, from curating the right music to picking venues that are accessible and bring the right energy.

For Turbo, we’re setting the tone with an incredible venue, Dragonfly Hollywood. It’s now queer-owned and has a gorgeous interior, an epic sound system, and lighting that transforms the space. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re stepping into something special.

We also believe parties should feel inclusive. For example, Steam Towel Party is a space where anyone can feel comfortable walking around in towels, regardless of body type. BarBareIans combines nightlife with art, celebrating creativity alongside gear. Hump is a safe space for Middle Easterners to celebrate their culture, but we’re happy to see non-Middle Eastern clients embracing it too—they never miss a Hump party! Across all our events, we love pushing boundaries and filling untapped niches.

• Tell us about TURBO.

O: Turbo is our new collaboration party which will be monthly, every fourth Friday at Dragonfly Hollywood. Dragonfly has recently been taken over by new queer ownership. The venue looks amazing and I’m excited for people to have a new party at a luxurious venue which hasn’t had a queer party for many years. I love that the venue is so close to West Hollywood, but it being away from the strip makes it a great destination club and more of an occasion.

H: We are addressing a gap in Friday nightlife—While there are other parties, we felt like they were missing something.

Here’s what to expect at Turbo: Music that keeps you moving, with pop and top hits spun by two incredible DJs, sexy dancers, plus surprise pop-up shows throughout the night. It’s all about creating a high-energy vibe that brings people together and leaves them wanting more.
