AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT DISPLAYED AT THE WHITE HOUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Joe Biden made history on World AIDS Day on December 1 by being the first president to display panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt on the White House’s South Lawn. Biden and others mentioned the quilt in their speeches to commemorate the occasion, reported LGBTQ Nation.

The following day, the Library of Congress announced its release of over 125,000 items—including letters, diaries, photographs, and other materials—documenting the lives of those represented in the Quilt. The documents will provide the world with a deeper insight into one of the most poignant symbols of the U.S. AIDS epidemic.

STATE COURT SIDES WITH TRANSGENDER YOUTH IN LANDMARK RULING

The Montana Supreme Court has affirmed a preliminary injunction against the state’s prohibition of gender-affirming care for transgender youth, establishing a precedent among state supreme courts nationwide.

“I will never understand why my representatives are working to strip me of my rights and the rights of other transgender kids,” Phoebe Cross, a trans boy and the lead plaintiff, said in a statement. “Just living as a trans teenager is difficult enough, the last thing me and my peers need is to have our rights taken away.”

LGBTQ+ CATHOLICS TO PARTICIPATE IN 2025 JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE

An Italian association of LGBT Christians has said it has received official Vatican approval to make a pilgrimage to next year’s Jubilee in Rome, although the Vatican’s Jubilee organizers say they are neither supporting nor opposing the event while the figures behind it are declining to comment, reports the National Catholic Register.

The association called asked its members to “save the date”—Sept. 6, 2025, at 3 p.m.—and invited “all associations and groups dedicated to supporting LGBT+ individuals and their families to join us as we officially cross the Holy Door of the Jubilee at St. Peter’s Basilica.”

CONSERVATIVES CALL TO BOYCOTT  “WICKED” FOR ITS LGBTQ+ THEMES

The looney conservative Christian group “One Million Moms” are calling for a boycott of Wicked over the blockbuster film’s “LGBTQ agenda” and “openly queer” characters.

The anti-LGBTQ+ organization has posted its latest petition asking supporters to send the following message to the film’s distributor, Universal Pictures: “I disagree with the LGBTQ agenda you are pushing on families in the film Wicked. My family and I will not watch this film. Universal has left conservative and Christian families with no choice but to avoid Wicked since it goes against our beliefs and values. My family will not support Universal Pictures; you have lost our trust.”

MICHIGAN TAKES STEPS TO OVERTURN LAW TARGETING GAY MEN

The Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee passed a piece of legislation last month that would repeal a so-called “zombie” law that criminalizes sodomy, something that was made legally unenforceable by the Supreme Court in the 2003 case Lawrence v. Texas, reported LGBTQ Nation.

Eight Democrats voted in support of the legislation, with two Republicans opposing it and two more opting not to vote. The bill will be sent to the state House for an additional vote, will then go to the Senate and, if it passes there, to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s desk. She is a Democrat.
